Here is an excerpt from the report:

'In Australia, for example, one quarter of all children between two and seventeen are overweight, or obese. In the adult  population, this figure doubles, to fifty percent. During the 1960s and 1970s only 13% of our population had a weight problem. By the 1980s, this statistic had increased to over 20%. Today, we are facing the frightening statistic that 1 in 3 people in Australia are overweight or obese. What is even more startling is that (statistically) Australian children are now fatter than those in the United States – and they are growing fatter, faster, with rates of overweight children doubling, and rates of obese children trebling in the decade between 1985 and 1995. If weight gain continues on the path it is following, it is estimated by the year 2020 that 80% of all Australian adults and a third of all children will be overweight or obese.'
